Innovate Educate Ltd’s success is down to a great team. Over the years we have attracted an exceptional team of cultural and learning experts. This means our work is driven by leading edge good practice and delivered by a team of expert communicators. All of our specialists have many years experience and a post-graduate qualification in their particular area of expertise.

Karen set up Innovate Educate Ltd in 2000 to support businesses, visitor attractions and heritage venues to engage more creatively with, particularly young, audiences. Since then she has delivered strategic reviews, creative learning and engagement programmes and evaluations for both high-profile national heritage venues and smaller, local and volunteer-run visitor museums.
She is an expert researcher, writer and producer, with strong project management skills. She has a particular interest in innovative engagement tools, particularly digital.
Karen loves delving into the stories ‘behind the scenes at the museum’. She believes that heritage venues should reflect the stories of everyone in society. Her focus is inspiring young people from all backgrounds to engage and work with the creative and cultural sectors.
Jael has a background in arts and cultural strategy, specialising in cultural and creative learning, engagement and participation. She is an expert researcher and one of the most engaging facilitators in the heritage field. She has over 20 years’ experience leading innovative programmes, partnerships and strategies in the cultural, heritage, arts, and education sectors. She is passionate about the way that cultural experiences connect people, support identity, building and transforming lives.
Helen has worked with Innovate Educate for over 15 years and has created all our digital resources. She specialises in User Experience and User Interface Design and is passionate about creating engaging and inclusive digital experiences that capture the imagination of young people. From interactive educational games, trails and maps she brings learning to life. Most recently she has designed and built the Create Your Future website for Innovate Educate.
Cliff Porter is an experienced science educator. He often provides CPD for teachers through the National Science Learning Centre in York. For Innovate Educate he writes resources and provides training. Since January 2001 Cliff has researched and written science-based learning resources for schools, the museums sector and science industries. He is friendly and creates practical hands on science workshops that are easy for museum professionals to deliver. Together we have created learning resources, activities and publications for:
- Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire
- British Commercial Vehicle Museum, Leyland
- Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service (LWCS): exploring school visits
- Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway Museum
- The Royal Society.
Vikki Pendry of Florus Education is a highly qualified, experienced practising teacher and curriculum expert. Vikki has worked with Innovate Educate Ltd to develop learning resources that link local communities to their heritage. Projects include:
- Route to the hills, Great Malvern District Council
- Heart of Wakefield (geographical and historical enquiry) Wakefield District Council
- Learning Review, York Minster.
Vikki helps to deliver resources on difficult subjects. She also helps us with trialling and testing resources.
Simon Collins is a filmmaker specialising in telling stories in a short space of time. His videos are concise and captivating. Simon works with Innovate Educate to produce short films for learning resources. He is also experienced in producing films that illustrate evaluation. Simon is friendly and professional, full of ideas, from scriptwriting through to all the planning and logistics behind making a high-quality film.
