Innovate Educate worked with the Royal Society on two education programmes. The aim of the first, Inspiring Scientists, was to encourage young people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds to consider a career in science. This programme takes its inspiration from ten scientists, all of whom have had to overcome difficulties to pursue their careers. All are highly regarded in their chosen field. Their work includes finding landing sites for the Mars Rover, looking at the properties of food and exploring immunology. The second project we were invited to support celebrates the 350th anniversary of the Royal Society’s Philosophical Transactions, the first ever scientific journal. Both resources are suitable for students of English, history and geography as well as STEM subjects.
